In June 1984, the Indian Army stormed the sacred Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple), Amritsar, under Operation Blue Star. This holy site, where prayers for universal good are offered, became a battlefield. The attack was aimed at removing Sikh militants led by Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale, who stood as a defender of Sikh faith and Akal Takht Sahib. Armed with unwavering courage, Sant Bhindranwale fought valiantly to protect Sikh values, rights, and pride. He ultimately embraced martyrdom for the Sikh Panth and the dignity of Akal Takht.
The aftermath of this tragic event left deep scars on the Sikh community. Thousands of innocent lives were lost, and the sanctity of Harmandir Sahib was desecrated. The pain of 1984 remains fresh even today, as it marked an assault not just on a religious site but on the very identity of Sikhs worldwide.
