This artwork portrays the significance of the microphone as a symbol of truth and resistance. Whenever someone raised their voice for Punjab’s rights using this microphone, their words felt like fire to oppressive regimes. Every word spoken resonated like a bullet from a gun because the truth is always bitter.
Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale, upon becoming the leader of Damdami Taksal, used this microphone to advocate for Punjab’s rights, which were later compiled as the Anandpur Resolution. He inspired Sikh youth to take Amrit and embrace the Khalsa identity. Alarmed by his growing influence among the youth, the government began defaming him, labeling him a terrorist. Ultimately, in June 1984, the military attacked Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), martyring Sant Ji and demolishing Akal Takht Sahib. Even today, Punjab’s youth remain deeply influenced by his ideology.
One such inspired individual was Deep Sidhu, who also used the microphone to speak for Punjab’s rights and became a source of inspiration for many young people. Tragically, he too fell victim to conspiracies. Following Deep Sidhu’s path, Bhai Amritpal Singh Ji raised his voice for Punjab’s rights through this microphone and worked tirelessly to rescue Punjab’s youth from the clutches of drugs. Seeing his growing influence, the government imprisoned him in an attempt to silence his voice.
However, Bhai Amritpal Singh Ji is now contesting Lok Sabha elections from Khadoor Sahib constituency with the microphone as his election symbol. Bhai Sarabjit Singh Ji, son of Beant Singh Ji (who avenged the desecration of Akal Takht Sahib), is contesting from Faridkot constituency. Beant Singh Ji restored dignity to the Sikh community by taking bold action during critical times.
