On June 4, 1984, the Indian Army began heavy shelling on Akal Takht Sahib in Amritsar as part of Operation Blue Star, a military assault on the Golden Temple complex. In response, Sikh warriors valiantly defended their sacred shrine, giving a befitting reply to the army’s aggression. This operation left deep scars on the Sikh community and is remembered as a dark chapter in Indian history.
Today, it is disheartening to see that Punjab continues to be ruled by political parties that either betrayed the Sikh community in June 1984 or orchestrated Operation Blue Star. The residents of Punjab must awaken their conscience and make informed decisions in future elections to ensure justice and accountability.
The attack may belong to the past, but its pain lingers on even today. Never forget 1984—a reminder of resilience, sacrifice, and the need to preserve truth and justice.
