Hola Mohalla is a vibrant three-day Sikh festival established by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in Anandpur Sahib during the late 17th century. It was created as a platform to showcase the martial skills, bravery, and camaraderie of the Khalsa. This unique festival follows Holi and adds a martial dimension to the celebration of spring, emphasizing defense preparedness and valor.
The festival includes mock battles, Gatka (Sikh martial art) demonstrations, archery contests, horse-riding, and traditional processions resembling military parades. Sikhs from around the world gather at Anandpur Sahib to participate in these events, which also feature devotional music, poetry recitals, and langars (community kitchens). Hola Mohalla is not just a display of martial prowess but also a celebration of unity, spirituality, and cultural heritage.
