This artwork is a heartfelt tribute to the unparalleled sacrifices of the Chaar Sahibzaade and Mata Gujri Kaur Ji, whose martyrdom remains a cornerstone of Sikh history and inspiration for generations. Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s elder sons, Baba Ajit Singh Ji and Baba Jujhar Singh Ji, displayed unmatched valor in the Battle of Chamkaur in December 1705. These warriors fought fearlessly against the oppressive Mughal forces, striking like lightning on their enemies. Their roars echoed like lions in the battlefield, and they attained martyrdom with immense bravery. Blessed are those warriors who sacrificed their lives in the Battle of Chamkaur for righteousness.
The younger Sahibzaade, Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, aged just 9 and 7, were bricked alive by the tyrannical Mughal regime for refusing to renounce their faith. Despite being offered riches and power, they stood firm in their devotion to Sikhism. Fearlessly chanting “Bole So Nihal,” they embraced martyrdom with unwavering courage. Mata Gujri Kaur Ji, their grandmother, instilled such resilience and high values in them, nurturing their spirits with unmatched strength. She too attained martyrdom in the Thanda Burj (cold tower), enduring immense suffering.
This tribute also honors Moti Ram Mehra Ji, who selflessly served milk to Mata Gujri Kaur Ji and the Sahibzaade during their imprisonment and later sacrificed his life along with his family. Similarly, Diwan Todar Mal Ji is remembered for selling all his wealth to secure land for the cremation of the younger Sahibzaade. Nawab Sher Muhammad Khan of Malerkotla is also revered for opposing the unjust punishment given to the Sahibzaade, standing against tyranny even within his own regime.
Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s sacrifice of his entire family for the protection of righteousness (Dharma) is unparalleled in history. His teachings and legacy continue to inspire countless individuals to stand for justice, equality, and truth.
