Description
This artwork is dedicated to the unparalleled sacrifice of the youngest martyrs in Sikh history, Sahibzada Baba Zorawar Singh Ji (9 years old) and Sahibzada Baba Fateh Singh Ji (7 years old), the brave sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. These young warriors were sealed alive in a wall in Sirhind on December 12, 1705, for refusing to renounce their faith and convert to Islam. Their courage and unwavering commitment to Sikh principles remain an eternal source of inspiration.
Through this mythical artwork, we attempt to depict the profound grief that might have been witnessed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s symbolic falcon as it observed this heart-wrenching scene. Even the skies must have trembled at the sight of such young souls standing firm in their faith while enduring unimaginable cruelty. The land of Sirhind itself must have quaked under the weight of this injustice.
These young Sahibzadas were not ordinary children; they were embodiments of immense bravery and resilience. Blessed is their father, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who created such an immortal Khalsa. Blessed is their grandmother, Mata Gujri Kaur Ji, who raised them with unparalleled strength and instilled in them the values of courage and sacrifice. Blessed is Bhai Moti Ram Mehra Ji, who risked his life to serve them warm milk during their imprisonment. Blessed is Diwan Todar Mal Ji, who sold all his wealth to purchase land for their cremation, ensuring they received proper honors.
Their sacrifice reminds us of the power of unwavering faith. Despite being offered wealth and comfort in exchange for abandoning their beliefs, these young souls chose martyrdom over betrayal of their principles. Today, when we bow our heads at Fatehgarh Sahib, we must reflect on the immense courage they displayed at such tender ages.
In contrast, we live in times of comfort yet often fail to uphold our Sikh identity with pride. The Sahibzadas’ legacy calls upon us to reconnect with our roots and honor their sacrifice by living as true Sikhs.
Let us pledge to keep their light alive by preserving our faith and values. The world’s history has never witnessed a greater martyrdom than that of these two young warriors. We bow countless times to their supreme sacrifice.
Bole So Nihal… Sat Sri Akal!
