This art poster is a heartfelt tribute to Shaheed Bhai Amrik Singh Ji Bhindranwale, a true Sant-Sipahi (saint-soldier) who laid down his life defending the Sikh faith during the tragic events of June 1984. Bhai Amrik Singh Ji, the son of Sant Giani Kartar Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale, the 13th leader of Damdami Taksal, was deeply rooted in Gurbani and Sikh literature. As a prominent leader and President of the Sikh Students Federation, he devoted his life to promoting Sikh values and advocating for justice and equality.
During the brutal attack on Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) by the Indian Army from June 1 to June 6, 1984, Bhai Amrik Singh Ji stood fearlessly alongside Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale to defend the sanctity of Darbar Sahib and the rights of the Sikh Panth. Despite facing tanks and heavy artillery that destroyed the Akal Takht, he fought valiantly for the pride of Sikhism, ultimately attaining martyrdom at the foot of the Nishan Sahibs near Akal Takht.
Bhai Amrik Singh Ji’s sacrifice was not just for a building but for the dignity, faith, and future of the Sikh community. His courage and devotion symbolize the spirit of resistance against oppression and injustice. The Sikh Panth will forever honor this great martyr and pray for the Chardi Kala (eternal optimism) of his family.
